GBH Utilities “GIRS” up for increased business

GBH Utilities has achieved full accreditation for the Gas Industry Registration Scheme (GIRS) following a rigorous assessment by the Scheme’s administrator Lloyds Register. We are the first South Yorkshire Company to gain accreditation in both Design and Construction and the news is already having a significant and positive increase in enquiries. GIRS is structured to increase competition in the gas connections sector and allows third party companies such as GBH to undertake work directly on National Grid and Northern Gas Networks distribution systems. We have to perform to the same high quality standards as these network operators and the accreditation covers design, construction, connection and commissioning of gas mains, services and associated equipment.

Cost Saving

Managing Director Trevor Davies says the company has made a major investment in time and money to attain the GIRS standard:- “It enables us to offer our clients very real cost savings and reduced lead times as we can now work directly on the networks without waiting for the networks’ engineers to complete their part. For our clients that translates into a trouble-free turnkey package in relation to gas connections and gas mains and service including liaison with third parties and all necessary licence agreements.”

Flow of Enquiries

“There seems to be a huge amount of interest in the market place as we are already seeing a steady flow of GIRS related enquiries and as a consequence we expect to be recruiting additional skilled operatives, in addition to the implementation of a skills upgrade programme” he said.
